01) Calculate rod dimensions for desired rod characteristics (Or use somebody else's numbers)

02) Select a good piece of "Tonkin" bamboo. Growth rings are called nodes.

03) Split into 0.25" - 0.4" strips
|

04) Split strips - notice dark, dense fibers to the outside ("enamel") of the strip and light, soft fibers to the insi
|

05) File inside of nodes and carefully sand outside of nodes
|
|
06) Select 18 strips (6 per section) for 3 rod sections (1 butt, 2 tips). Stagger nodes in section.

07) Carefully heat strip on pith side till pliable and flex to straighten.
|
|

14) Bake strips in tube at 375 deg for approx 6 minutes to drive out excess moisture.

15) Set planing form depth to dimensions calculated in step 1.

16) Sharpen plane blade to a mirror finish. (8000 grit)
