baby birds

stumbled upon in a hole in a dirt bank on the two track I was walking while looking for morels. Mother darted from the nest as I walked by drawing my eye to it or I would have missed it completely. The birds open their mouths as a reflex to their mother's chirping sounds as their eyes are not open yet. Same type occurrence later same day when I almost stepped on a duck nest in a patch of trillium.
