Love the memories in these photos. Thanks a whole bunch for sharing them. I remember going on the ferry back in the early 50's when I was a young kid. Even went on the Greyhound Bus by ferry across the Straits. Pictures are awesome.

I know they say "be careful what you wish for" and know the waits were long a lot of the time - but sure wish i could have taken one of these ferries at least once in my life!

Just a thought but if you want to ride a ferry boat take a trip to vancouver island in British Coloumbia or to some of the islands in Puget Sound. BC has ferrys all over the provence. The UP is wonderful but the PNW is something else altogether.

OH MY GOSH..........do these pictures bring back the memories!!!!I think I can still smell the exhaust fumes. I grew up on the west side of Detroit and we always went on vacations to Upper Michigan when we were young. Remember at the Mystery Spot when you went thru it and came out there was a paper advertisement held on with wire to the bumper of the car??? The UP was so barren then. You could drive for miles and see just a few little buildings in what were called towns here and there. I have such fond memories of the Ferry Boats. May I should raid my parents pictures next time I visit them. My dad has been retired for 25 years.....My parents are 80 this year....well mom won't be 80 til the 22nd as she says.
Thank you thank you for sharing the good old days Eric......God Bless
