Richard Trangmar (son of John & Margaret [Fell] Trangmar) was born 27 April 1858 in Roose Mill, Dalton, Barrow-in-Furness, Lancashire [now Cumbria], England. Richard arrived in Michigan's Copper Country about 1880, where he married Sarah Mackey on 30 Jan 1882 at the First Congregational Church in Hancock MI. The 1910 U.S. Census records the family living in Franklin Township, Houghton County MI, with Richard working at the "foundry" as a machinist. The 1916-17 R.L. Polk & Co Hancock MI Directory shows the family living in Hancock on "Pine bet 3d and 4th" with Richard working as an engineer at the Hancock City Water Works. Richard died in Houghton County MI on 27 Nov 1931. He is buried alongside his wife, Sarah, in Houghton's Forest Hill Cemetery.
