I have no knowledge of rocks but I was wondering if Thomsonite is a type of ancient coral?

Thomsonite is a mineral. The way the mineral grows causes it to have those rounded structures. In the Keweenaw, you can find Thomsonite filling little holes (called vesicles) in the volcanic rocks. You can see that in the big rock in the back of the photograph.
Thompsonite belongs to a group of minerals called zeolites. Zeolites have many industrial applications and are also used to "soften" water.
I just think think it looks pretty.
